Configure and manage tax settings

Discover how to configure sales tax for your policies. WarrantyHub can automate the calculation of sales tax on your contract invoices.
Permission Required: Users with the Settings permission can access this feature.

Configure tax settings

Step 1: Enable tax settings

  1. Go to Settings, select Misc Settings.
  2. In the Tax Configuration section, check Whitelist Taxable States.
  3. Add relevant taxable states.
  4. Save edits at the bottom of the screen. 

Step 2: Set up taxable policies

  1. Go to Settings, select Policies.
  2. Choose a Group, click edit next to a Policy.
  3. In Other Settings, mark Is Taxable.
  4. Save your changes.

Manage tax settings

Once tax settings are configured, the tax amount will be visible on contract invoices. Tax is calculated based on the property address associated with the contract owner.

Tax reporting filters

Reporting filters are available to show tax details linked to your contracts. These fields can be located within the Included Fields dropdown menu in the following reports: Contracts & Coverage Periods, Contracts & Coverage Periods Advanced, Payments, and Payments Advanced reporting.
  1. tax - refers to the dollar amount of taxes owed.
  2. tax_rate - the combined sum of the county, district, and state tax rates.
  3. county_tax_rate
  4. district_tax_rate
  5. state_tax_rate
